CHITOSAN INFORMATION
Chitosan wound dressing consists of 100% chitosan fibres. Chitosan is a naturally occurring starch (polymer) derived from the shells of crustaceans. It is a soft, highly absorbent dressing which gel when in contact with wound exudates and provide moist environment for optimum healing.
Chitosan wound dressing has the absorbency and gelling characteristics similar to carboxymethyl cellulose but with additional benefits of being haemostatic and bacteriostatic are important to wound healing process.
INDICATIONS
Chitosan wound dressing can be used in the management of moderate to heavily exuding chronic and acute wounds, and may be used to control minor bleeding in superficial wounds.

- Donor sites and graft sites
- Surgical wounds (e.g. postoperative wounds left to heal by secondary intention)
